On September 23, 1978 A young American couple, Rev. Henry Ritchie and his wife Sharon, answering the divine call of God, were named “Missionaries to the Windward Islands” by the Foreign Missions Board, and confirmed by the General Board of the United Pentecostal Church International.
The desire and willingness to start churches was in their hearts. They began their work in St. Lucia. Armed with the “whole armor of God” (see Ephesians 6 : 19 – 17), they began to have evangelistic services, first in the village of Balata, then in the capital city of Castries at 34 Saint Louis Street.
